Compensation Awarded for Road Rage Injury
A man injured in a road rage incident has received £500 in compensation. Ugene Haughey, 73, accidentally bumped into someone else’s car while parking. After checking the other car and finding no damage, he left to run an errand. When he returned, the owner of the other car, Alan Sproat, 59, confronted him as he tried to get into his vehicle. A struggle ensued, during which Mr Sproat grabbed the driver’s door and allowed it to close on Mr Haughey's ankle. Because of the injury Mr Haughey was in hospital for ten days.
In court, Mr Sproat admitted that he had recklessly allowed the door to close on Mr Haughey's ankle and was ordered to pay £500 in compensation.
